NSBE Jr. Chapters
NSBE Jr. is the formal membership category for NSBE’s pre-college students. NSBE Jr. members may form chapters in their schools, churches or community organizations. Students not belonging to a chapter will be “at-large members.” Volunteers such as members of NSBE collegiate or Alumni Extension chapters, parents/guardians, teachers, counselors or school administrators act as advisors to provide support, guidance and assistance to chapters to implement projects and activities.
EXISTING PROGRAMS
Curriculum Materials
Included with NSBE Jr. paid membership, students will receive a variety of academic and technical materials. These materials include financial aid information; career counseling guides; the NSBE Jr. toolkit, which includes step-by-step instructions on chapter development (available online); SAT/ACT Prep; self-paced college assessment and much more.
Scholarships, Competitions and Awards
NSBE offers several scholarships, competitions, and awards for NSBE Jr. members. Scholarships and awards include the Leroy Callendar Award, the Golden Torch Award and many more. Try-Math-A-Lon, Science Fair and Model Rocketry are just a few of the competitions we offer throughout the year.
Pre-College Initiative Conferences
The PCI Program is divided into six regions, where conferences such as the Summer Camping Conferences and Fall Regional Conferences are held. Each spring, the national PCI Mini-Conference is held at the NSBE Annual National Convention. These Conferences have various activities, workshops and competitions promoting academic and technical development.
NSBE Bridge Magazine
NSBE Bridge serves as a resource promoting academic excellence, help with college preparation and providing information about science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers. NSBE Bridge was designed to answer questions young people frequently ask about college expectations and their future in engineering and other technical careers. NSBE Jr. members receive a one-year subscription with their membership.
